Fendi - History & Authentication

Diana Aldaoud

Posted on December 31 2018

FENDI and all its glory was founded in Rome in 1926 by Adele Casagrande and Edoardo Fendi.  It started as a modest leather and fur atelier.

Two decades after being founded the couple turned to their five daughters to give the production process the face lift it needed. In doing so, the women decided to hire a fresh and new designer that would push FENDI in a more contemporary direction.

Karl Lagerfeld joined the FENDI family in 1965, and transformed the brand into one that is fun and creative. Giving it a young vibe, with a decadent taste to fur-making.

Mr. Lagerfeld himself drew the now infamous double FF logo in three second, and it became the acronym of the FENDI house.

FENDI benefited greatly from logomania in the 1980s and 1990s, and Karl made sure the brand became as recognizable as Louis Vuitton and Gucci.

And now it seems as though its back again. To help you avoid the inauthentic items out there we have put together a small guide to help you.

FENDI AUTHENTICATION

1. FF Canvas

Some bags feature the FENDI FF logo on the brands signature jacquard canvas. Make sure the weave is tight and clean. Make sure the FF logo does not look pixelated or sloppy. Fake bags will not have the same feel as authentic ones, attempt to get your hands on a authentic one and compare closely.

2. Snap Closure

Magnetic clasps should be square on most FENDI bag, especially older bags. They should also say FENDI in capital letters. If older bags have a circular clasp then its a sign the bag is inauthentic.

2. Details

The trim on authentic FENDI items should also be made of genuine leather. Stiching should be neat and consistent throughout the bag. Check corners, the inside and hidden areas for more details. There should be no visible sign of glue.

If there is a FF logo print (Zucca) on the exterior of the bag, then the interior should not be printed. The same applies to Louis Vuitton and Gucci logo bags.

Vintage bags will have a style number stamped either in metallic foil on the inside pocket or on a leather tab.

The thing with authenticating designer bags is always looking for the smallest details, knowing the brand, the hardware, material used, and history of the items.

We want you to know that with Fashion House you have the comfort in knowing that all our items are 100% Authentic.
